We’re proud to have supported Marie Curie as National Charity Partners since 2009. Our partnership has enabled us to use our skills to provide practical solutions and support from across the business to those in need.
Our People play an important part in the success of our communities. As a business we strive to use our collective skills to give something back. Launched in November 2009, this is our first ever national charity partnership.
We initially pledged to donate £1 million between April 2010 – March 2013. We smashed this target in September 2012, six months early. Since then we’ve continued to support Marie Curie and have so far donated over £1.5 million.
This amount was made up by offering free policies, employee fundraising, business donations and our sponsorship of Marie Curie fundraising events such as Walk Ten.
Our free 12-month policies, covering household repairs and emergencies, are given to people being cared for by Marie Curie. It gives those receiving Marie Curie care peace of mind, offering a unique and practical solution, and removes an added expense at a difficult time.
Our People have supported Marie Curie since day one and continue to come up with creative ways to raise funds. Whether based in Walsall, Preston, Banbury or the network everyone has shown their support.
We love a good cake bake, skydive, football match or dressing up to help make a difference. No challenge is too big or too small, and we’ve even taken on the Swimathon and ITV’s Text Santa to name a few.
In recognition of the partnership in July 2012, HomeServe and Marie Curie were short-listed for Best Business / Charity Partnership by the Institute of Fundraising, the leading industry body in the voluntary sector in recognition of the partnership’s success.
Our partnership is as important today as it was when it was started. It is something our People continue to support with unwavering enthusiasm.
